
Hallie Schmidt
Lyric Coloratura Soprano
American soprano Hallie Schmidt will begin her 2025-2026 season with a return to Pacific Northwest Opera as Armida in Handel’s Rinaldo. She will then reprise her favorite role of Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos the following spring also at PNO. During the summer of 2025, Hallie was an Apprentice Artist at Des Moines Metro Opera, where she performed in all three operas, The Flying Dutchman, The Cunning Little Vixen, and The Rake’s Progress.
An avid lover of producing, Hallie also directed and led Olympia Opera Theatre’s first festival in August of 2025, where she is the Artistic Director and Co-Founder. This premiere festival included a solo recital, high school vocal competition, and two performances of The Old Maid and the Thief.
Hallie was engaged for the 2024-2025 season as an Artist in Residence at Opera Colorado. There she covered Marie in The Daughter of the Regiment, as well as sang the student matinee, followed by Musetta (study cover) in La Bohème, and Inez in the spring concert production of Il Trovatore. Hallie also sang Berta in The Barber of Seville, and Gretel in Hansel and Gretel in Opera Colorado’s touring productions. In the 2023-2024 season, Hallie returned to Pacific Northwest Opera as Blondchen in Die Entfürung aus dem Serail, following her engagement as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro in November of 2023. Previously in 2023, Ms. Schmidt made her debut with the Pacific Northwest Opera as Sophie in Der Rosenkavalier.
She began her 2022/2023 season at Vashon Opera where she sang Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos. Following that engagement, Hallie returned to Opera Theatre of St. Louis for a filmed production of The Magic Flute, where she sang The Queen of the Night. Hallie was a District Winner in the 2022 Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, and was also awarded the Grace Keagy in the 2022 Lotte Lenya Competition. She was also was an encouragement award winner in the 2021 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and the winner of the 2020 Hawaii Performing Arts Festival Classical Vocal Competition.
